Tim Elliott - Managing Director

Tim Elliott is the Managing Director at Shirley Lau & Co. He advises on a wide range of debt and leasing transactions across the asset and commodity classes. He works with export credit agencies, owners, banks, lessors and portfolio managers, in particular on aircraft, shipping, offshore marine, and oil and gas financings and all associated equipment procurement, chartering and operating arrangements. Tim’s experience includes advising on syndicated debt and capital markets offerings, portfolio sales and corporate purchases, leasing and funds formation, tax structuring and work-outs. A number of innovative transactions on which he has acted, both for operators and financial institutions, have won a number of international awards.

Shirley Lau - Partner

Shirley Lau's practice primarily focuses on commercial and corporate finance in Hong Kong. Her experience includes mergers and acquisitions, a full range of regulatory compliance including matters concerning The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (Main Board and the Growth Enterprise Market) and the Code on Takeovers and Mergers, corporate restructuring, public offerings (both local and H-share), secondary fund raising exercise, direct investment in the People’s Republic of China and matters concerning the Companies Ordinance and Hong Kong securities related legislations.

Yee Shun Polly Liu - Counsel

Polly Liu focuses primarily on commercial and corporate finance in Hong Kong, including mergers and acquisitions as well as capital markets transactions.

Polly also has experience in share and asset acquisitions, issue of shares and convertible bonds, securities and regulatory compliance and commercial contracts.

Mandy Yim - Counsel

Mandy Yim focuses her practice on Hong Kong initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate and commercial matters. She frequently advises investments banks, underwriters and listing applicants on proposed listings on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, both Main Board and Growth Enterprise Market. Mandy also advises listed companies in Hong Kong and other corporate clients in a broad range of corporate transactions.

Calvin Leung - Senior Legal Manager

Calvin Leung is a Senior Legal Manager in our Banking & Finance practice in Hong Kong. He advises leasing companies, financial institutions and banks on conventional loans, ECA financings, operating lease, financial lease and asset portfolio sale and purchase.

Prior to joining Shirley Lau & Co, Calvin was an associate in the asset finance group of a UK law firm, with a primary focus on aviation financing work. Calvin has also previous worked for an international law firm focusing on banking and corporate finance. He was trained and qualified in an American law firm. Prior to joining the legal profession, Calvin was a senior banker with more than 20 years of experience in structured financing, leverage financing and project financing.”

Amy Sin Man Cheung - Senior Associate

Amy Cheung has been practicing law for over thirteen years with major international law firms. Based in Hong Kong, she has been advising local and international clients on all aspects of dispute resolution including banking disputes and securities enforcement, commercial disputes, probate and property claims and disputes amongst shareholders. She also has extensive experience advising on contentious intellectual property matters including the enforcement of intellectual property rights by means of, amongst other things, obtaining injunctions from the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. She has extensive experience handling litigation in the High Court and District Court for plaintiffs and defendants and bringing and defending appeals to the Court of Appeal and Court of Final Appeal. She is qualified to practice law in Hong Kong and England and Wales.

John-Michael Chidwick - Registered Foreign Lawyer

John-Michael is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in our banking and finance practice in Hong Kong. He advises a wide range of clients including banks, borrowers, owners, lessors and lessees, with a particular focus on financings in the aviation, shipping, offshore marine and oil & gas sectors. John-Michael’s experience spans numerous jurisdictions and includes asset and project financings, sale and purchase arrangements, leasing arrangements, operating arrangements, syndicated and bilateral bank facilities and operational management agreements. John-Michael was previously based in CMS’s London office and has spent time on secondment with leading international companies Airbus in Toulouse, France and Bumi Armada in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Joanna Au - Associate

Joanna is an associate in our Banking & Finance practice in Hong Kong. Joanna’s experience centres around our cross-border asset finance practice focusing on the aviation, shipping and offshore marine sectors.  She has represented lenders on major commercial aviation financing transactions as well as aviation brokerages, lenders and purchasers on purchase and financing in the business aviation sector relating to G650, G550 and Bombardier Challenger aircraft.

Kin Sing Albert Jok - Associate

Albert Jok focuses on compliance matters, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions in Hong Kong and PRC. His experience includes advising on matters relating to corporate governance, directors' duties and shareholders' rights, disclosure of price sensitive information and other listing rules compliance matters, internal compliance issues of intermediaries, SFC licensing and authorisation matters. Albert also regularly handles investigations by the SFC, the Stock Exchange and other regulatory authorities. Other matters that Albert handles include acquisitions of technology, retail and other businesses in Hong Kong and other major jurisdictions; financing and taking of security; insolvency and restructuring; as well as fund raising activities.

Tak Yui Ignatius Seu - Associate

Ignatius Seu focuses on both public and private mergers and acquisitions, public takeovers, IPOs, pre-IPO investments and restructuring, listed companies compliance and regulatory matters, as well as general commercial work. His experience in mergers and acquisitions includes offshore, onshore and cross-border transactions involving companies incorporated in places such as Hong Kong, China, Singapore, BVI, Samoa, the Cayman Islands, Bermuda and engaged in a broad spectrum of business sectors like manufacturing, pharmaceutical, electronics, hospitality, technology and financial. He is experienced in secondary fund raising exercises by listed companies in Hong Kong, including subscription and placing of securities, rights issues and open offers. Ignatius regularly advises listed companies on compliance and regulatory matters concerning Hong Kong Listing Rules, Hong Kong Takeovers Code and Hong Kong Securities and Futures Ordinance.

Wai Yin Vivian Tse - Associate

Vivian Tse has extensive experience in Hong Kong securities offerings and has advised numerous Chinese and international companies, private equity firms, public sector entities, and international banks on their investments across Asia. She also advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and general corporate matters.
